International Equal Pay Day

18 September
On 18 September every year, the International Day for Equal Pay is celebrated. It represents the long-running efforts to achieve equal pay for work of equal value, and it serves as a reminder to the United Nations’ commitment to human rights and to combating all forms of discrimination, including discrimination against women, girls, youth and persons with disabilities.

The desired draft constitution shall guarantee achieving equal pay for work of equal value and duration, and shall call for upholding human rights and the rejection of all forms of discrimination within the environment of work, apart from experience and capability.

The draft constitution shall stipulate that female and male citizens are equal in rights and duties, and that they are equal before the law without discrimination. It shall also guarantee the right of every male and female citizen to work on the basis of merit and equity, in decent conditions and with a fair wage, in addition to guaranteeing the minimum wage to ensure a decent life.  The draft constitution shall guarantee the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals in decent work and economic growth through the search for full and productive employment, and a fair and equal pay for work of equal value in order to build a better future for employment in Syria.
