“Astana 15″…the Syrian Constitutional Committee at the table of the guarantor states
After a hiatus of more than a year, the guarantor states of the Astana formula will hold its 15th meeting on Tuesday in the Russian city of Sochi, and on its agenda the most prominent file is the Syrian Constitutional Committee, which did not make progress in five meetings held in Geneva.
The high-level meeting will be attended by representatives of the guarantor countries, namely Turkey, Russia and Iran, and the delegations of the regime and the opposition, in addition to the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.
It is customary for the Turkish side to be represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Sadat Onal, the Russian side by Alexander Lavrentiev, the special envoy for Syria, and the Iranian side by Assistant Foreign Minister Jaberi Ansari, while the opposition delegation is headed by Ahmed Tohme, and the delegation of the regime Bashar al-Jaafari.
