Al-Bahra: There is no postponement of the constitutional committee meetings scheduled for August 24 in Geneva
The co-chair of the Syrian Constitutional Committee on behalf of the opposition, Hadi al-Bahra, affirmed yesterday, Tuesday, that there is no postponement so far for the meetings of the Constitutional Committee scheduled in Geneva as of August 24.
In a workshop held by the committee via an electronic platform, in the presence of a number of its members and a group of journalists, Al-Bahra confirmed that “the next meeting came after long negotiations and procrastination by the regime to reach the agenda.”
He explained that the agreement on the agenda came after the spread of the Corona virus, which did not allow the meeting to take place until the 24th of this month, pointing out that “so far officially, the meeting has not been postponed, a postponement may occur according to the development of Corona statistics in Switzerland.”< /p>
Al-Bahra stated that “travel visas were granted only to members of the committee participating in the meeting, and there are measures taken by the Swiss authorities.”
Al-Bahra said that “the field agreements in all regions of Syria are temporary,” considering that these agreements are “an organizational stage for military matters to become disciplined, at this moment the political process will start.”
He stressed that “the first meeting of the Constitutional Committee last year was the beginning, and gave a positive impression of the progress in its work and its mandate.”
On July 25, representatives of the 50 Syrian Negotiations Committee in the Syrian Constitutional Committee held a virtual meeting, at the invitation of the joint head of the Syrian Constitutional Committee Hadi Al-Bahra, and in the presence of the Chairman of the Negotiating Committee Anas Al-Abdeh.
The attendees discussed preparations for the next round called for by the international envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, on August 24, according to the agreed agenda. .
