Abdulmajid Barakat studied political sciences in Damascus University, then he acquired an MA in international relations with distinction in 2012. At the beginning of the revolution, he was the head of the data and information office of the central cell for crisis management in Damascus. He defected from the Assad regime in January 2012, taking with him important legal documents issued by the regime leadership and the crisis cell, which was an important pillar in most of the legal action against the regime. After fleeing Syria, he moved to Turkey and became the representative of the Union of Syrian Revolution Coordination Committees abroad and head of the Higher Commission for Relief in Syrian (Lotus) in the north of Syria. Abdulmajid was active in media and he contributed to a number of documentaries in Arabic and English on the Syrian revolution, as well as his activity in the legal aspect of the Syrian cause. He also worked in several Arab and foreign study centers. Abdulmajid participated in a number of Syrian opposition conferences in Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Italy and Sweden. He is the author of “Modern Arab Alliances – Parameters and Priorities” and he co-authored the book of “Syrian Revolution and the Reality of the Assad Regime” |
